News Release March 16

The British Columbia Conservative Party is pleased to announce its third official candidate in the 2017 election is Chuck Hardy in the Kelowna-Mission Electoral District.

“The recruitment of another fine candidate with strong commitment and talent and deep local roots is another sign that the B.C. Conservative Party will be competitive in numerous constituencies around the province,” said party president Corbin Mitchell, indicating that more nomination announcements will be coming soon.

Hardy, a lifelong resident of Kelowna, traces his family’s roots in the area back to his grandfather’s arrival on horseback in 1891. A former 22-year employee of the City of Kelowna, he is widely known in the area for his lifetime of volunteer work and his energetic entry into Kelowna’s mayoral election in 2014 in which he emphasized how the city could do more to facilitate growth and development.

“Chuck is still outspoken about ways to strengthen the Kelowna and Rutland communities and the whole constituency and that makes him another excellent candidate for the B.C. Conservatives,” said Mitchell, who announced Leah McCulloch in Courtenay-Comox on Tuesday and Tony Goulet in Cariboo North on Wednesday. (Details on www.bcconservative.ca )

“I come from a background in which relationship-building is key,” said Hardy, noting his many years volunteering for the International Order of Job’s Daughters and helping to fund and build social housing projects in Mexico. He also keeps busy as an instructor of hunting safety and safe handling of firearms.

“My purpose in life has been to always focus on ‘Being of Service to Others’ and that will continue to be the cornerstone of my work as a Member of the Legislative Assembly if the citizens of the Kelowna area were to elect me on May 9,” he said, promising to be easily accessible to everyone.

“We really need to shake up the province,” said Hardy, promising to conduct another spirited campaign on behalf of the best interests of the general public.

“I feel a responsibility to do what is best for this great area, this great province and our great country,” said Hardy, whose son and daughter are both returning to live in the Kelowna area along with one grandson.

”The constituents of Kelowna-Mission well know which problems take precedence and well know that a dedicated team is needed for the next political term,” he said, indicating it is time for a new governing party in Victoria, one that will do a better job of keeping jobs in the province while also respecting workers, protecting the environment and growing the economy as the B.C. Conservative Party’s policy platform advocates – especially enabling families to live comfortably.

“We have to start showing better respect for the workers of our province without whom it would not be as successful as it is today,” he said, promising to listen to the concerns of all constituents not only those who make large donations in the expectation of receiving favours from government as we’ve been seeing too much of from other parties in recent years, he concluded.
