Martin accepts BC Conservative nomination for Chilliwack-Hope by-election
January 25, 2012 – Chilliwack – Last night John Martin accepted the nomination of British Columbia’s Conservatives for the upcoming Chilliwack-Hope by-election. In his remarks he announced his opposition to the Liberal government’s approval of Metro Vancouver’s planned incinerator.
”Now they want to give the go ahead to burn Vancouver’s garbage in our backyard. I assure you, if the Liberals were to win this by-election it would be a clear signal to this government they can do anything they want and get away with,” said Martin, who is also the BC Conservative Justice Critic. “As your MLA I will oppose this incinerator. The quality of air in the Fraser Valley is not important to this Liberal government, but it is vitally important to those of us who live in Chilliwack and Hope.”
“This by-election is about a choice between the old-line special interest parties who have taxed and spent our province deep into debt. Everything costs more under this Liberal government. Medical premiums, ICBC, BC Hydro, Carbon Tax, Gas Tax. The list goes on and on. It just doesn’t end. The only people getting ahead in Christy Clark’s British Columbia are cronies, insiders and lobbyists.”
“The people of Chilliwack-Hope deserve better than a choice between Liberal cronyism, and NDP incompetence. British Columbia’s Conservatives are the only party that will get spending under control, scrap the carbon tax, and take the influence of big money out of politics.”
